Okay, so the picture above is unflattering, blurry and goofy.  But do you see the miracle?  My daughter, a TEENAGER, for whom Reactive Attachment Disorder has been a major diagnosis, is willingly KISSING me!!!!! It has to be a miracle!  And my heart is happy and full on this Saint Patrick’s Day…

  17. Wonderful for you and her. May the blessings continue! Brad

  18. How wonderful!

  19. I love that you are raising five children with disabilities, including psychiatric ones. Your heart is big. It takes a special kind of sensitivity and empathy, that most people in this society who do not themselves have such issues, do not have.

  20. If there’s not a place in heaven for you, then God help the rest of us.

  30. I got a peek at your blog and plan to spend more time reading it. The St. P’s day photo and caption hit me right between the eyes. (not literally of course. 😉 ) I have a little adopted leprechaun too … Oh yes!

  31. Incredible!!! Magical picture and post!! 🙂

  32. Precious! Your daughter is more than any label with which she struggle’s. There will come a day, when it will be said she used to be diagnosed with . . . but she is no more. Yours and your husband’s love is transforming her. This kiss is but one of many rewards that are coming your way! Praise God for his miraculous touch on your daughter’s life!

  33. The photo is simple soft around the edges, not blurry. You and your daughter look perfectly lovely. What a treasure to have something so special immortalized in print. A french proverb says “There are no miracles for those who have no faith in them”. I personally love miracles and this is one of them. God bless you.

  34. I have a story I want to share with you…today one of my mentors told his story to our congregation and I know you’d be blessed by it. Sorry to post this here, but reading your blog reminded me that I wanted to share this story with you. This is the link,( https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=AV4irA-f0jE). Bryon (without me ever knowing his story), taught me that there are no limits to what I could do (the same lesson you teach your children). I hope this blesses you. Let me know if the link works.

  35. wooo hoooo! See what can happen when Leprechauns are about?!

  36. Times like these are what priceless memories are made of, savor it and tuck it away for those days when you need a reminder that more good things will come with time.

  37. Such a wonderful picture! And your face is just what I had imagined… Kind and beautiful!

  38. Took your book on my ereader to the hospital and I loved it.My daughter is now reading it. I love that book.Sure made me quit thinking about the knee replacement for a bit. That picture is so adorable too.

  42. So much love in that one photo 🙂 Really beautiful! 🙂

  43. Congratulations…. I understand how long such events take to happen.

  44. My favorite moment in life was one evening when my RADish son said, “I love you” spontaneously. I was so shocked. He’d never said that before. I knew he did but this confirmed it. It gave me confidence that we’d get past his RAD symptoms. That was five years ago and today he takes care of me in my dialysis world.

  48. Awww, best picture ever in my book!

  49. Nominated your blog for The Liebster Blog Award. Here is the link:

    http://thejourneyismydream.com/

  50. This is extra special for a special and loving mother who deserves all kinds of praise and hugs. I am sure that it is rare for your daughter but in her head, she may give you them. I am not sure of that disorder but know that you have broken through to her!! Yeah!!

    • The Reactive Attachment Disorder means that she was so badly neglected as a young child that she had to learn to rely only on herself, not on others. Making emotional connection with others is extremely difficult.
I hope that she WAS giving me kisses in her head, I kind of thought that all along. But this was the first time she actually DID it, which was great!

  51. Thanks for all you share through your blog. I enjoy and appreciate reading it. I wanted to let you know that I have nominated you for the Liebster Blog Award. You can read more about it here: http://thinkingaboutgratitude.wordpress.com/2013/03/20/building-community/

  52. its not blurry…its beautiful! One that should be framed, photo copied and put on the fridge, e-mailed to all friends and family and treasured for ever!

  53. That made my heart sing. I know you will cherish that kiss and that moment forever.

  54. Thank you very much for letting me find you 😀

And I am Very Happy for you!!

May you experience many, many miracles more !!

  55. That’s so great!!

  56. Those kisses are the sweetest. Thank you for sharing

  57. Just wonderful! 🙂

  58. Oh, I know where you’re coming from, having dealt with the same thing. I’m getting hugs and kisses all the time now, and it turned around in almost a day. Prayerfully, this will happen with your daughter now, too. Once they realize what they’ve been missing, it can be addicting.

  59. What a glorious, awesome, wonderful moment.

  60. Hi Linda,
I am so awed by how you embrace life and your children, despite the challenges presented. I have therefore nominated you for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award – couldn’t quite find another way to contact you than via this comment. For more info, see my blog & post Turning a New Leaf.
